Ophthalmologist Website
A calm, credible website for a specialist ophthalmology practice in Melbourne
The brief
Project overview
We designed and built a clear, trustworthy website for Specialist Eye Surgeons, a referral-based ophthalmology practice in Moonee Ponds. The website supports patients seeking reliable eye health information and gives referring practitioners a simple, secure pathway to send referrals.
The project combined accessible website design and development, patient-focused content structure, detailed surgeon profiles, an online referral form and local SEO foundations for a professional medical website that feels calm, organised and easy to use.
How we did it
The case study
The client and the challenge
Specialist Eye Surgeons is a referral-based ophthalmology practice in Moonee Ponds, caring for patients across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. The practice provides care across a broad range of eye conditions and procedures, including cataract, glaucoma, retinal, corneal and oculoplastic surgery.
The website needed to serve two important audiences. Patients, many of them older, needed clear, reassuring information that was easy to read and simple to navigate. Optometrists, GPs and other referrers needed a fast, reliable way to find practice details and submit referrals securely.
The existing online presence did not fully reflect the depth of clinical care provided by the practice. It also needed a clearer information architecture so visitors could move from symptoms, conditions and treatments to surgeon information and referral options without confusion.
What we did
We designed a calm, spacious website with a soft colour palette, generous typography and warm photography. The visual direction was chosen to reflect the practice's patient-centred approach while maintaining the credibility expected of a specialist medical clinic.
To improve usability, we created a clear structure for medical and surgical care, procedures and sub-specialties. Each condition and treatment was given its own page, helping patients understand their options before an appointment and supporting stronger on-page SEO for ophthalmology services.
Detailed surgeon profiles were added to help patients get to know their doctor before visiting the clinic. These profiles provide a more personal introduction while still presenting qualifications, areas of focus and clinical experience in a professional way.
For referring practitioners, we developed a dedicated Referrers section and a secure online referral form. This gives optometrists and GPs a direct path to send patient details, reducing friction and making the website more useful as part of the practice's daily workflow.
We also planned and added a practical FAQ section covering common patient questions, including fees, driving after appointments, what to bring and opening hours. This helps reduce uncertainty for patients and can also lower the volume of repeated phone enquiries.
Behind the scenes, we set up a flexible content management system for services, surgeons and team members. This allows the practice to keep information current as services, staff and clinic details change over time. We also implemented medical clinic structured data to support local search visibility and provide clearer context for search engines.
The result
Specialist Eye Surgeons now has a professional medical website that matches the standard of care it provides. It is clear for patients, efficient for referrers and consistent across every important touchpoint.
The final website brings together accessible content, strong clinical organisation, patient reassurance and practical referral functionality. It gives the practice a reliable digital foundation that can grow with its services over time.
